APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for your interest in Texas Lutheran University. Upon receipt of your application we will notify you that it has been received and if any documents are missing. Once we have your completed application, high school/college transcript(s), and letters of recommendation we will move forward in providing you with a decision. TLU operates its admission process on a rolling basis. Normally, processing of applications for both fall and spring semesters begins in October. Please contact our Admission Office if we can assist you with any questions you may have. We look forward to getting to know you during this college admission process. Have a great day!

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

We are delighted that you have chosen to apply for admission to Texas Lutheran University. Please read all information and instructions carefully before completing your application. For your convenience, a checklist has been provided to help simplify the admission process. TLU follows a rolling admission policy, which means that an admission decision is made shortly after the application file is completed. An application is considered complete only after all items on the checklist have been received.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

First-Year Applicant
  • This completed online application, accompanied by the nonrefundable $25 application fee*
  • A personal essay/statement, as indicated on the application
  • Official SAT I or ACT scores
  • An official high school transcript, through the end of the junior year at a minimum. Please include class rank and cumulative grade point average
  • Two completed recommendations (one counselor, one teacher)
Transfer Applicant
  • This completed online application, accompanied by the nonrefundable $25 application fee
  • A personal essay/statement, as indicated on the application
  • Official transcripts from each previous college or university
  • If you have completed fewer than 15 semester hours at time of application, you must submit an official high school transcript, as well as SAT I or ACT scores
  • One completed recommendation (either counselor or teacher)
  • One completed Transfer Addendum
*Requests for waiver of application fee may be obtained through the Fee Waiver Service of the College Board or your high school counselor.



FRESHMEN

An applicant who has been homeschooled is expected to submit all the documents required for regular high school graduates with the exception of a high school diploma. The applicant must submit a certified copy of the curriculum used, listing courses for each year and showing grades obtained. A personal interview may also be requested.

THREE-YEAR GRADUATES

An applicant who will be graduating from high school in three years is expected to submit all the documents required for the four-year graduate with the exception of the junior year transcript. Initial review of the file will be made from the sophomore year transcript.


GED GRADUATES

An applicant submitting a GED in place of the high school diploma will need to submit an official score report of the GED. A personal interview may also be requested.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

In addition to completing the online application, international students must download and complete the International Student Addendum to the Application and the Confidential Report on Proficiency in English. These completed forms must be mailed to the address below with the application agreement statement that appears upon finishing this online application.

How to Use the Texas Lutheran University Online Application

To complete the online application, simply type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be re-entered prior to submittal.

Once you have completed the application, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column to submit the application.
